The Societies for Vascular Ultrasound and Surgery came together once again this afternoon to discuss Productivity in the Vascular Laboratory. There is ample evidence indicating that this topic is near and dear to the hearts of vascular professionals from sea to shining sea.
Co-Moderators Rita Shugart, RN RVT FSVU and J. Dennis Baker, MD RVT succeeded in covering the wide-ranging aspects of this topic with style and efficiency! The session went something like this:
■Introduction of Presenters and Topics
--Rita Shugart, RN RVT FSVU
■Introduction to Productivity
--Michael Jaff, DO RVT RPVI
■Maintaining and Improving Productivity
-- Marsha Neumyer, BS RVT FSVU FAIUM FSDMS
■Increasing Productivity Through New Technology
-- David Parlato, BA RVT FSVU
■One Lab's Experience with Evaluating / Improving Productivity: A Case Study
-- Michael Jaff, DO RVT RPVI
■Summary and Panel Discussion
-- J. Dennis Baker, MD RVT
...followed by a lively audience "Question and Answer" time.
Not only was this session integral in opening minds to the ins-and-outs of measuring productivity, but I personally walked away interested (and quite possibly enthused) to initiate new and effective ways of productivity evaluation in my own vascular laboratory! Not to shabby folks. Rather like the defnition of productive: "a : yielding results, benefits, or profits b : yielding or devoted to the satisfaction of wants or the creation of utilities" ~ Merriam-Webster
